Our Vision
When I began working in the boiler industry, my father sent me on an out-of-town service call with my grandfather R.L. McCook, Jr. My grandfather learned the boiler trade from his father, who had been a boilerman in Arizona since 1928. While traveling in our work truck, my grandfather posed a question that taught me the importance of proper work performance and I embraced this philosophy in every aspect of business. I expect the same mindset from every team member who provides service to our customers.
Grandpa asked me, "Jim, what is a professional?"
My youthful response was, "Someone who gets paid for doing their job..."
He exclaimed in a concerned but loving way, "No, it is much more than that."
Puzzled for a moment, I replied, "What is it then?"
His response has molded me into who I am today in business.
"A professional is someone who performs the job right, even when they don't feel like it!"
I will always be grateful to my grandfather for teaching me this valuable lesson of integrity early in my career.
